Fan noise during free throws

Can fans make noise during free throws ? examples...feet stomping, yelling at players, shouting their names, school name,...How far do we take rules in this instance ?

Yes.

No one can use "artificial noisemakers" in a NF game. That is pretty much it. Anything else is a local issue.

Peace

To what rule(s) are you referring? OOPS - Snaq beat me to it by about 60 seconds.

And as we all know, school children are natural noisemakers.

This ain't golf...there is nothing (besides the disallowance of artificial noisemakers and any local rules) that prohibits fans from cheering at any point.

Had a BV game once where it came down to crunch time and of course the team behind (home) started fouling. Fan got the idea to jingle his keys as the free throws were shot - one guy. Partner told game management that this was not allowed as it is an artificial noisemaker. GM tells the guy to knock it off.

Next foul we got 10 people jingling their keys. Partner again gets game management. GM makes an announcement over the PA - no jingling allowed blah blah blah.

Next foul we got the entire home section jingling their keys. Partner goes nuts. Goes and gets security then runs to the sideline pointing "You're outta here! You too! You're out!" Gawd what a mess.

BTW Visitors still won but didn't hit any free throws after my partner froze the shooter.

Well, it kinda depends on how hard you spin 'em by the leg.

LOL Never tried spinning them, though I've been sorely tempted to swing a few of them that way.

If part of the 'blah blah blah' was a T would be issued to the home team, then I am sure it would have stopped. A T is a last resort and should rarely be issued to the crowd.

HC's are actual noisemakers, AC's are artificial.

There's the HC, and the bench.
