Punching the ball

Freshmen girls. Team A in bounds the ball in their backcourt. There is not a defender within 30 feet of the play. A1 bounces the ball to A2. A2 punches the ball back to A1. NO! I did not call the violation.

The next dead ball I informed A2 not to punch the ball again. Nothing good would have come out if I called the violation for Punching the Ball.
