Sad
We're talking 22 games a season (11 boys, 11 girls). At $60/game, this comes to $1320 over 22 dates. If they draw 240 people to each game, they'd only need collect a quarter from each person attending.

The state has given the message that "2-person is OK" by leaving the first 2 rounds of the playoffs 2-person. If it's good enough for them in games where the loser is done for the season....

You kill houseflies with a shotgun, don't you.

Yeah - but then they "encourage" you to attend 3 person camps and will even give you a "varsity" game credit if you do attend. And - they use only 3 person crews for sectional and state tournament games.

I think it's funny that you can attend a camp and pay a fee to go to that camp and officiate in a 3 person crew for a summer invitational tournament where teams are paying rather large fees to attend and play in as well. Some of those guys are making serious cash on both players and officials.

Wink

Thank goodness that our governing body in Texas, the UIL, is governed by a Division 1 official tha sees the NEED to cover these games better with 3 officials and develop them to more easily move up in levels into the college level. With all the oil $$ flowing in our states, and the "robin hood" rule that takes state money from the "richer" counties and helps distribute that to lesser school districts...
