Great to ensure your refs are current....but, what a pain in the butt! CR - does this cause you to go through more shirts (ripping, tearing, snags?) Just curious.

Then again, how long do you guys wear shirts before you replace em? Again, just curious.

Some people argue that is the reason....but games are only assigned by authorized organizations. Also, it wouldn't be too difficult to get your hands on a patch or to fake one. I think they're worthless.

No sign of the velcro aside from the vecro strip itself. I just recently removed the old velcro from a couple shirt that are still in good shape but no longer use for HS games (older mesh shirts with the larger holes) and you can't tell it was ever there.

The trick is carefully lining up the velcro strips when attaching them to the shirt/patch and then carefully attaching the patch to the shirt. There is no reason for the hard loops to ever contact the shirt and create a mess....I have seen that on people who directly attach the velcro'd patch to the shirt fabric.

I keep mine for several years....but my oldest shirt still look essentially new. I've upgraded largely for comfort or appearance (not from wear but for new versions of mesh or shirts that keep you cooler). I still have shirts that I had when we switched to V-neck from the byron collar....they look fine but they are my last resort since they're the plain polyester shirts....meaning hot.

Funny you post that, I actually had a guy on my football crew who packed a stapler just to staple his patch on every week. He even packed the staple remover (yeah, the jaws looking thing) to remove the patch so it wouldn't snag, and he'd be ready for his subvarsity or kiddies game the next morning. Unbelieveable!

Magnets do work!

I also went with the magnets this past season. They worked well, and the shirts are not snagged. There was one thing that I had to watch out for. Because of the width of the magnets, the patch is slightly offset from the shirt. The lanyard can find it's way behind the patch. If it does, I learned not to grab it too hard/or too fast. One of the magnets can become dislodged. It happened to me once.
