The suggested technique has obviously served many here very well. However, I've discovered that every one of my newer "microsofter" shirts has at least one snag in it. I haven't conclusively identified the culprit, but it is most likely ... velcro. So now I'm shying away from velcro around my shirts whenever I can.
I have my wife put my patches on for me. Her technique is to ...
- Make sure she's got it in the right spot, because it's going to be permanent
- Iron the patch to the shirt to keep it in place temporarily
- Then stitch it down along the outside border using a similar color thread
Using her technique the patches stay firmly attached and are still looking good until well after the shirt needs to be replaced.
Which for me will be this season.
Stupid velcro.
