Being on the league Board, I know this guy was suspended for one game. I wonder if he's going to honor his suspension or show up for the game. Since I can recognize him, it will make my day if he shows up.

"LET'S GET READY TO RRRRRRRRUUUUUUMMMMMMBBBBBLLLLLLLE."

So, are you going to toss him? If he seeks you out and is contrite are you going to still ban him?

On a similar note, yesterday, on my way to a JUCO tourney game, I passed through a town where I really began my officiating career. One of the uglier situations I've ever dealt with occurred there when I threw a school board member out of the gym for yelling BS! in the middle of a middle school game. Talking to my sister, who lives in said town, I found that the board member I threw out is now banned from any school events in that town. I gotta admit I took a little satisfaction in hearing that.

About 15 years ago, I tossed a parent from a Little League baseball game because he was taunting, yes taunting, the 11 year old pitcher from the opposing team.

When said parent returned to pick his kid up after the game, he tried to pick a fight with me.

He is not supposed to be there and he knows it. If he's there, he will be tossed and will be suspended for that day and also the final two games of the season.

Well, at least it's not the last game of the season. Sounds like the rules are clearly defined. Did he say BS or the long version?

No, he came out on the court during a TO in Q3 and told the refs they were unfair to his kid's team because they were "biased". He was quite animated. They told him he was insulting their personal integrity and to be quiet and go back into the stands immediately. He didn't do either so one of the officials (a college kid that I trained) tossed him and escorted him out of the gym. A report was made to the Board and the Executive Committee offered him the opportunity to comment before any measures were to be taken but he refused. Their decision, which is somewhat automatic based on the agreement he signed when he registered his kid, was a one game suspension for him - not the kid.

The good thing here is that the kid gets one 'embarrassment-free' game in the deal.

Thumbs down What a disappointment

Well, I had the game and the guy didn't show up. Boo. That means all I got to do was call the game. How boring!

Sounds like my Saturday nights.....I get all keyed up for something that might happen, and then it doesn't!

(Ok, maybe that was TMI!)

A man I respect greatly once told me, in reference to punishing a child, "you can't talk your way out of something you behaved yourself into."

An apology is nice, but I agree with Padgett -- he still serves his time.
