Agreed. I see it too many times where the dribbler picks up his dribble driving to the basket, gets fouled and the foul is called not in the act of shooting. If he picks up his dribble on the drive before getting fouled, let 'em finish.

A lot of these should be no-called, too, if the dribbler is getting past the defender and gets hit. Not all, but a lot.

But just picking up the dribble isn't necessarily enough, he must be starting his shooting motion (which often times starts simultaneously with the gathering of the dribble.)
