Kind of a spinoff here: Do you guys ever mention the rule to the players or coaches, prior to the play? I've always discussed it with my partner(s) when we have a situation like the one in the OP, but I've never mentioned anything to the players or coaches. Would that help the situation or make things worse by getting involved in the strategy?

No, but I would remind my partners of this fact.

Peace

That's what I've always done, but I wonder if it could help in the above situation. But, that just opens up a whole different set of issues, so I agree that just sharing it with your partners is the best bet.

It is the coach's responsibility to know the rules. You are interjecting yourself into the strategy of the game to advise both coaches.

If someone wanted my name and number, I'll pull up one of my buddies off the cell phone, especially any of those brutes who play in the upper level of slow-pitch softball. They don't like it when someone gets personal about their behavior. :D

Agree. We've been taught to not only wave off the shot right away, not waiting for it to go in, or not, but to also wave it off while turning away from the basket, toward the table.

What? What am I going to do with all my eight track tapes?
