Indiana High School Basketball, not surprising. We've all seen Hoosiers.

Also, to answer your other question a bit Snaq's

The story goes that this "fan" got in the officials face after the game. Then proceeded to chest bump him. The official went to walk away and the "fan" body bumped him again.

At that point he then Identified himself as a police officer, the "Fan then decided to push a little more and with some assistance from school officials the "Fan" was taken down and taken into custody.

Currently the story is they are trying to get him for Physical assualt on an official, assualting an officer, and resisting arrest.

Now whther those charges stick or not will be interesting to see.

Thanks, jcarter, that makes a lot more sense. I knew there was more to it than that, but I was curious.

Non-religious people send their kids to religious schools all the time for educational reasons.

Religious people aren't significantly less likely to lose their composure in stressful situations, either.

I assume you worked in a church school league before? You're not far from the truth with what you said.

Good story on this

Went looking for a local newspaper account online because I thought I had heard a radio report last night say the fan had tried to choke the ref with his whistle lanyard. Apparently true.

More good details from the incident, esp. from the official, here:

Have to love the line, "You can't arrest me, you're a referee!"

"Badges? We don't need no stinkin' badges!"

Since we're all expected to be the Fashion Police, do we all have powers of arrest?

The ironic thing, I was at this school two weeks ago. I was there for a college game.

And this was a religious school. It amazes me how people that pray before games have sometimes the biggest problems controlling themselves.

Peace

One of the reasons I use a Smitty, and tuck my whistle under my shirt at the end of a game...

I remember my white hat in football talking about working a tournament involving four colleges all with the same name (which shall remain nameless), all four being of the same denomination (which shall remain anonymous). He said they'd do the prayer and all that before the game, go throw up the ball and next thing you know, in the next 30 seconds, you'd have about 3 or 4 T's and an ejection and God knows what else. LOL

As well as for behavioral reasons, making it even more plausible to see a person be out of control at one of their games.
