I used a football mechanic the other night, but it had nothing to do with player counts. The clock operator wasn't paying attention and had already missed starting the clock once or twice. Finally, in a 4th quarter throw in, the clock didn't start, I noticed it, then gave my Football Referee wind the clock signal. One of my partners, a football ref himself, told me later he lost it seeing that.
