Or better yet, shower with your uniform on. Then when you get home you'll only have to put it in the dryer. Or even better yet, shower with it on, keep it on, and let it dry, then you can wear it to your next game, if you work in just another ref's association. But that's for another thread. Never mind.

To actually repsond to the original post, mesh shirts are certainly legal FED uniforms. I have 3 polyester and 1 mesh... however I'll probably add another one. They're pretty comfortable.

A very experienced assignor around here told me the mesh tend to snag easier than others, though they're comfortable as all get out. Sure enough, yesterday my latest mesh acquisition got a few pulls after just a few weeks of use -- apparently a chest-pocket zipper on a fleece jacket I wore briefly was the culprit. Any thoughts by the collective wisdom on the pros and cons of mesh or not?

Both mesh and poly have their good and bad points. To me it's just preference and the temps where you're gonna work.

Snag on what?

I've been wearing the side panel shirts from Officials Choice now for 2 years. In fact, I think that's all I've worn this year. They are the best shirts I've worn. The Smitty shirts are good material wise, but the side panels don't have the stretchable material the OC shirts do -- which I think greatly benefits keeping the shirts tucked in.

They do snag from time to time. But I do not wear them to games, so it is not a problem.

Peace

Smooth, indeed.

Could we all only have enough experience already not to have to work a quick kid game here or there.

I must have an obsession with official gear. I am into my 8th year I own 2 old school polyester with the coller, 2 polyester without, I also have 4 smitty mesh cool fit ref shirts ( 2 each with flag going oppoisite way) One gray ref shirt. Four ref sansabelt pants.
In my state we decided to put the flag on the opposite sleve that our state patch is on. When they first put them on they put them on as if you would look at the flag it was correct. But being on your right arm the stars should be in the other corner of the flag (closest to your heart.) Some people think this is a big deal others may not. The state said either is exceptable since the flag need to be displayed like that on military uniforms only. I have both so when I work with certain people (like military vets) I can wear the uniform with the flag that has the stars closer to my heart.

I would never go to any game dressed unless in a very big time pinch. And a shirt is the last thing I would be wearing to the game. That is what the bag is for.

Peace
