Finding Answers
I was on here the other day and I noticed that when people are giving their scenarios of what happened, they normally ask 'am I right' or 'what should have I done'. Which is perfectly fine, I do this too.
However, what you need to do after asking your question and getting other opinions is to check the sources. Always refer to the rule/case book. A lot of people think well, someone else agreed so it must be right...but seriously, there are times when that is not right. So if you ask did I make this right call, go and check the rule book. Then explain the scenario, let us know what you did, the ruling you are going by, and then we can explain that rule from there if what you did was right or to explain what the rule is saying. Just something that I thought I would mention to keep in the back of your mind. Let me know your feedback. Positive or negative; I don't care. I'm interested on what you guys have to say!!! Thanks, -Lucas

I am a 17 year old who can't wait to get into officiating. But I was talking to other officials the other day after our school rival game and somehow we got into this topic so I just thought I would throw my two cents out there. Because it's somewhat true. But I dunno...maybe a waste of my time.

I will give you a word of advice. I would not go around telling people how to respond. It is your responsibility as it is everyone else's responsibility to read through the information and decide which is correct. And that includes reading the rulebook and casebook or listening to people in your area that you respect. There are officials literally all over the world that come here and have all kinds of experience from the pro ranks to the high school and JH levels. It is up to you to decide based on answers or experience who you should listen to when they respond. This is no different than any other aspect of life. Take what works, throw out what does not.
Peace
