60 Seconds: Team Control
This is from today's "quick take."
Team Control Foul Mechanics Since the introduction of the “team control foul” the administration of this foul is much simpler. Similar to a player control foul, no shots are awarded to the offended team and we can quickly put the ball into play after reporting the foul properly. Since this is a newer mechanic, many officials have trouble understanding when a team is in control and when to use the actual team control signal. Below are a few things to remember about team control and the team control foul procedure. Team Control = YES If a player has control. While a live ball is being passed among teammates. When the ball gets away momentarily after deflecting off the dribbler (i.e. Interrupted Dribble). When the ball is loose, it still remains in control of the last team to have it, unless a try/tap for goal. Team Control = NO When the ball is in flight for a tap or try for goal. When the opponent secures control. When the ball is slapped away (by the defense) from an offensive player in control. When the ball becomes dead. During a jump ball or throw-in, there is no team (or player) control. (...) Anyone else disagree? |
