Jersey Torso, The Most Important Area ...
Not on the torso. Single color only, plus name, and number.

It's Tough To Shoot With This Blue Knight, In Full Armor, On My Back ...
That would certainly put some teams at a disadvantage.

Depends on the type of mascot, I suppose.

My HS team mascot was a Trojan. We wore them, but not on our uniform. And it was usually well after the game.

Mine was a Dragon. Not sure, I'd want to cart one of those around, unless they could be trained to clear the lane.

Be Prepared ...
Why not during the game? Obviously, you were never a Boy Scout.

BillyMac, Thanks for the attachment but it still does not answer the question - is the team mascot allowed anywhere on the jersey including on the back/above the shoulder/inserts/seams?

Check the second post in this thread. There is a link to the NFHS pdf.

Thanks. There has to be something in the PDF that leads you to believe that mascots can be worn on the jersey. But, I still don't see where it allows team mascots even in the unrestricted neckline area. Am I missing something? Mulk

"Eureka!" (Greek: meaning "I have found it!"). Finally. More detailed than the previous file, but still may not answer the original question. Still a good file worth looking at:
NFHS uniform presentation Be careful. This is over a year old, before any 2008-09 revisions.

There are no restrictions in the area of the jersey from an imaginary horizontal line at the base of the neckline extending to each armhole, up to the shoulder seam.
