No Pivot?

What situation does not allow you to have a pivot foot after a jump stop?

A player, who catches the ball while moving or dribbling, may stop, and establish a pivot foot as follows:
a. If both feet are off the floor and the player lands:
1. Simultaneously on both feet, either foot may be the pivot.
2. On one foot followed by the other, the first foot to touch is the pivot.
3. On one foot, the player may jump off that foot and simultaneously land on both. Neither foot can be a pivot in this case.
b. If one foot is on the floor:
1. It is the pivot when the other foot touches in a step.
2. The player may jump off that foot and simultaneously land on both. Neither foot can be a pivot in this case.

A2 catches a pass with one foot on the floor, hops, and lands on both feet simultaneously (aka jump stop). A2 cannot move either foot - thus having no pivot foot.

OK, I'm missing something, I thought Rocky had it right?

Unless you're taking it as he didn't mean exactly what/how he typed. Obviously A2 can still attempt a jump shot.

Phbbbbbbttttttt...A2 can jump to pass or shoot, but we all know that doesn't really count as "moving" either foot. Scrappy is just being a turkey since it's so close to Thanksgiving...go Dodgers!!

He can also lift only one pivot foot, like a step through, as long as it doesn't hit the floor before he passes or shoots.

Um, how does a player jump with out moving either foot?

(Unless you've seen me jump, perhaps...)

I'm too new here to know when you guys are joking, but you don't need a pivot to shoot or pass.....you DO need one to start a dribble....therefore (ergo), after a jump stop and no pivot available, your only two GOOD recourses are to shoot or pass, even if you have to jump (thereby moving your feet)...but definitely, no dribble....
