Its good to be back.

I took a break in the offseason from here but its time to come back and discuss the rules with my other fellow refs.

I'm sure I'll have tons of questions, but first and formost...

Are you ready for the season??.. I sure am. Have my first games coming up next week.

I'm ready, too; I've got a scrimmage tonight.

I don't know why, but I'll be watching the defense and the OOB lines closely...

I'm itching to get the season started. I've worked a couple of JH girls games to get the kinks out and I'm ready to go!

Welcome Back, Welcome Back, Welcome Back ...

Bearfanmike20: Welcome Back. We missed you. Happy belated Columbus Day. And you missed all the fun we had with hijacked, offtopiced, imaged, inside joked, and joked threads. Too bad. It was more fun than a barrel of monkeys.

Tomorrow 11/1 for me

I've worked a couple of jamborees and a couple of scrimmages but the ball goes in the air for real for me tomorrow night. Unfortunately my next game isn't until towards the end of November, but then HS starts in earnest come Dec.

Had a referee clinic Thursday & another one tomorrow. A local HS has 'open gym' and officials & prospective officials go over the rule changes with coaches and players and then we run 4 or 5 10 minute periods. We usually only go to the line for shooting fouls, but with the change this year, we decided to shoot all of them on defensive fouls to get everyone used to the change. First scrimmage is in 20 days.

I can't wait for the season to start. I recently joined an excellent crew of umpires so summer was very much a learning process. When fall came around, a friend from basketball asked me to join his football crew so again I was the new guy and learning alot (moved from line judge to umpire). I'm ver ready to get out on the basketball floor where I'm no longer the new guy and have much greater confidence in what I'm doing. First college game is November 15. I head out of town to a teaching conference this week with nothing to do on the plane and in the hotel but work with the rules book and women's manual.

I almost got all of the bugs out! I have done about 4 scrimmages already (NCAA), so by the time my college season starts, as well as high school, I will good and ready!
