Becoming an official

Hey,

I am a college student from kansas and I am wanting to officiate some junior high or JV basketball games this coming season. I also have 2 friends that would like to do the same. I know that I should call locale athletic directors but my question is that is it normal to have officiating partners? When I call the athletic director is it ok ask if I could be scheduled with my other 2 officiating friends?
