Question from AAU Coach

Player 1 from team A takes a shot from his backcourt the ball bounces inside his three point line then goes through the basket. How Many ponits are scored if any?

None. The try ends when it hits the floor.

No points are awarded...once shot hits the floor, the previous attempt has ended.

The 3 point attempt ended when the ball hit the floor. After that, a live ball went through the basket. Score 2 points.

Edit:
5.1.1
A goal is made when a live ball enters the basket from above and remains in or passes through. No goal is scored if an untouched throw-in goes through the basket.

What do you have when the ball goes through the basket, it's a live ball.

I stand corrected...Under Rule 5.2.1

A ball that touches the floor, a teammate inside the arc, an official, or any other goal from the field counts two points for the team into whose basket the ball is thrown.

Unless that first person you speak of is the original shooter, in which case people will yell, "Travel!!!".

Exclamation

You guys forgot the Billy Packer interp. Once the ball hit the floor, an offensive player has five seconds to recover it or else it's an inbound violation.

I will give ILRef80 and GonetoRef a little bit of the benefit of the doubt.

Since we are talking about a length of the court shot here, it is likely done while time is expiring.

IF TIME EXPIRES while the ball is in flight, and then it hits the ground, and bounces into the basket, then the ball is dead and no points are scored. (Also- no points if it hits the ground, then time expires, then goes in. Either way- the ball becomes dead when time expires because it is not in flight on a try for goal.)

If for some reason this occured in the middle of the game with the clock running, then it is 2 points as everyone has stated.
