Thumbs down Mollala strikes again!

What is in the water in this city? Not only have we had a story about a coach assaulting a referee, but this too -

"Tina Haqq, Josh's mother, said the criminal charges stemmed from a "misunderstanding" but would not elaborate. "All of these kids have a lot to offer," she said. "They're very, very smart, good kids." "

Not sure how smart it is to insert your finger into the anus of a younger team mate on a moving bus. Unless, of course, you're in medical school to become a proctologist.

These four dopes deserve jail time for stupidity alone, never mind the violence.

That mom is freaking nuts. If one of my kids ever did something like that to another human being, he wouldn't make it to trial. How she can defend her son and call it a misunderstanding is so far beyond my understanding...

And wtf were the coaches doing??? Where were they at when a kid was held down, had his shorts yanked off, and a finger jammed up his butt? You cannot tell me they didn't know something was going on back there at the back of the bus...absolutely disgusting.

Another article. with these chilling comments from Ron Brown, chief deputy DA:

Iinvestigators from the Oregon State Police believe coaches, teachers and administrators at the school were aware that this kind of activity was taking place.

"We believe there are other victims out there," Brown said. "We believe there were other victims involved because (the defendants) acted so matter-of-factly. I think it was commonplace at this school at this time."

He said he and the OSP didn't believe the coaching staff and school took the accusations seriously.

Brown said the incident was seen as a hazing by some, but these actions went way beyond hazing.

Send a message via AIM to rainmaker
What got me was the part about the victim having to change schools because fellow students and classmates were razzing and harrassing him. Appalling.

Hazing??? I don't think so!!!

Hazing is one making the Frosh stand on the bench and sing the school song to the crowd at the first home game. What those kids did is assault. I hope a criminal record follows them everywhere they go and it affects every part of their lives.

I guess they decided to spend all their money on facilities and not on good teaching, coaching and administration. I began my officiating career in the Salem Basketball Officials Assn. and reffed quite a few Frosh/JV games at Mollala. Very sad...

Did you know my son-in-law, David Kehret? He worked that assn. for a few years. He's kind of hard to miss, since he's 6'7".
