A little while ago, many of you were great in helping obtain some donations for the Make-A-Wish Foundation by going to a website and just clicking. Now, I'm working on a project to help a serviceman who's stationed in Iraq. He's my niece's husband (and they have two young kids). He is U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Scott Crouch. He has served in Desert Storm, Kosovo, Kuwait (where he cleared minefields!), a few other trouble spots and now Iraq. A few years ago, he bought an old junker of a car (a 1985 VW Golf) with thoughts of restoring it. However, every time he starts to work on it, he gets deployed somewhere. While he's in Iraq, his brother, who is a mechanic, is going to restore it for him
as a surprise! Scott knows nothing about this, which makes it really cool. One of the things we are doing to raise money is having a fun run/walk on March 29th at the local high school. We're calling it "Operation Overhaul".
Here is a link to some info about it.

If you are in the Portland area, please come even if all you do is watch the runners. We will be having a raffle of local restaurant gift certificates and stuff on site. Anyone in Oregon or Washington can go to any Wells Fargo branch and make a donation to the fund under the name of "Scott Crouch". Anyone anywhere else can contact me about sending a check or money order. You can call 503.997.MARK.
Thanks, guys and gals.
