Did anyone see the Memphis/UAB game last night?

What a screw job Ted Hillary did on UAB. He got whistle happy in the last two minutes of the game. He made EVERY call in the last 2 minutes (called a travel that was very questionable, called a 5 seconds on a sideline inbounds as the lead, and called a fould on UAB and counted the basket, even Doug Gotleib said it was a terrible call)but passed on 2 fouls in the last 6 seconds that would have sent UAB to the line. I had always thought he was an ethical and honest official until I watched that game. All I can say is WOW!

DANGER, DANGER WILL ROBINSON!!!

Who cares what Gottlieb said? That is the same guy that thinks and official working a game controls the destiny of another school in a conference he does not even work. Yeah, that is a credible argument.

Peace

Guys,

I dont meant to bring up this in this thread, but do any of you guys think Hillary has lost a step. Used to be one of my favorite officials, but in the last 2 seasons I have noticed somethings about his health that seem to prevent him from being in the best possible positions at times. I didnt see what happenend yesterday nor do I care to, by the way does anyone know how old Hillary is? Thanks.

the tigers are dropping. they would lose easily to duke or unc even without lawson. I think UAB was outscored 9 to 1 to end the game. They really should have won even when calls didn't go their way.

Hillary had a knee injury about 2 seasons ago (He was run into by a player I believe). He has not been the same since. I met his wife and his son at the Big Ten Tournament last year. Nice people.

Peace

There did seem to be a few questionable calls down the stretch.

Where was the travel? Isn't a shooter allowed to come down to the floor safely?

Terrible defense on Vaden with his last shot. Should have been penalized, IMO.

If you're going to make that travel call late against UAB, why not call a foul on the last shot by UAB????

Was the throw-in from below the free-throw line in the front court?

Dude, I did not see anything on the tape that was other than the "Travel" and you could not tell if that is what was called. It looked like a carry might have been called. I could not see that on the close up what the official signaled.

The last shot the shooter jumped into the defender and no they are not allowed special protection because they are the shooter. If anything that could have been a foul on the shooter. It is not the job of the officials to "protect the shooter." It is the job to see if they fall to the ground, why did they fall. Good no call.

Peace

Dude, watch the T (if you can't see the signal, maybe that explains your opinion on both of these plays ). He signals travel immediately (not the slo-mo replay). How you have a possible carry is absurd. The guard swinging around reaches out with right hand to catch a high bounce pass and brings it in. Worst case scenario is that right foot is the pivot. He starts his dribble with the right foot still on the ground. Not a travel last I knew....

As far as the last shot by UAB, the UAB player maintained his course of direction all the way through the shot. Defender never had LGP as he was coming in from the side. At 1:39 of video there is space between the players as the UAB players goes up for shot. Defender bails out, trying to take a charge, still no LGP, causing shooter to go down. Dumb play by defender, I'm shooting 3.

I never mentioned anything about 'protecting the shooter'. I asked if, by NCAA rules, the shooter is allowed to come back to the floor safely.
