"Slapping" implies a lot more force than I can imagine coming naturally from a shooting motion. Like Rut said, you really need to actually see it (and the whole game, IMO) to make this call correctly. I just can't picture a player contacting the backboard that hard on his own shot.
I can imagine legitimate contact with the glass, just not hard enough to consider it a slap.
