Very loud music during pregame

I have noticed in VBall and BBall games. Mostly girls, pregame music is so loud that fans are covering their ears or leaving the gym. Captains' meeting require us to yell to be heard. Last game, I told them to turn it down or turn it off. Has anyone else noticed this? I was thinking of having chapter president talk to AD about this.

I tell them they can't play any music unless it's by my favorite group, shown below:

I'm with ya, Damian.

I'd say I find the warmup music too loud in about 10% of the cases. Sometimes I ask them to turn it down; I let it go if it's only going to be on for another minute.

A few cases in the past decade the team has left the court, and gone back to the dressing room, to get a pep talk from the coach. I just go over and turn it down myself.

I had it earlier in the yr. People from the crowd were dancing and having a good time. I tried to ignore it and was happy when it got close to game time and they turned it down to start intoroducing the players...... Does that make me an ole fuddy duddy?

Its too bad that the first sign of trouble these people will notice will be when its too late: when their in their 30s and experiencing hearing loss. I've never like loud noises, music or otherwise, so it hasn't been a problem for me -- unless I'm in a place where I don't have control of the volume.

Unfortunately, turning it up real loud isn't just at games, or clubs, or rock concerts. Go no farther than you local church on some Sunday mornings.

Yup. There's a bunch of people getting older and a whole bunch more with upcoming hearing loss. If one invests properly, there is money to be made.

Yup, good Quakers who regularly attend unprogrammed worship seldom have problems with hearing loss.

A couple of decades ago, one radio station I listened to had a catch phrases, "If it's too loud, you're too old." Based on that alone, the answer to your question is, yes.

My favorite was: Rock 1-0-3, the station your neighbors listen to...whether they want to, or not!

The louder the better!

I must live in a conservative area because the pre-game music rocks up here in Northern Michigan. Never had a problem, love how the music gets the kids, crowd and even the refs ready to rock. Turn it up!

It may not necessarily be because of the volume. Had a JVB game last year with the pregame "music/noise" going and every other verse was laced with the F bomb. No one seemed to notice or care. The AD was nearby and I asked him to take a second and listen. As soon as he realized he made a beeline to the audio system and had it changed.
