Direct vs. Indirect

I'm having a problem with grasping the whole indirect technical concept. When does it apply? and what is the punishment? Any quick and dirty guidelines would be appreciated.

The technical foul summary on page 72 of the rule book is a quick, excellent resource to review for this subject. It shows the different situations where the T can be an indirect on the HC. Direct T to the HC is always when he/she does something to deserve it. Indirects to HC are when someone considered bench personnel receives a direct T. Just review the summary.

Are you talking about NF or NCAA? NCAA is quite a bit more involved, I too would love to hear any tricks for getting these straight....

Actually it isn't anymore. They cleaned up[ Rule 10 and divided all T's into 3 categories: Administrative, Player/Sub, and Bench. Makes it pretty simple.

But you can still have an indirect T on a player in NCAA whereas there is no such thing in NF, correct?
