Basic Timing Question

The specifics of the scenairo are this :

Home team will be getting the ball OOB.

Visitors request a Time Out. Partner grants it.

After partner reports time out , kid cruises by and gives him an earful.

We now have a technical foul.

Question is do we wait to shoot the free throws till the time out is over ?

You mean your partner didn't say "Thank-You"?

I'm confused Joe....

Nevadaref.

No indirect. Any reference for where this is layed. Specifically the wait till the time out is over before shooting. I tried but the Fed index has worn me down again.

There is no where that I know of that specifically states to first complete the time-out and then upon resumption of the game award the technical foul FTs, but that is how it is done.

However, there is a case book play about a player who dunks after the 2nd quarter ends. The game resumes with the 2FTs following the halftime intermission to start the 3rd quarter. The principle is the same. Finish the timing interval during which the T was earned and then continue with the penalty afterwards.

Right, it's a general principle that we don't do business during time outs, nor do we interrupt or shorten time outs to do business. This is why you report fouls, replace injured or disqualified players, etc. before granting a time out.

Tanner,
I'm pretty sure that Chessref was inquiring about a reference for the procedure of when to administer the FTs. He seemed to already know that no indirect should be charged in this situation. I took his post as just a quick confirmation that he did indeed not charge the head coach with one.

But perhaps I misunderstood.
