In NC, the coach who went into the locker room would be suspended for at least 2 games and the school would be fined a minimum of $200. |

Mightyvol, I had the exact same situation last year also in MN. I just left the dressing room and found the AD and he took care of it. Then I reported it to the State High School League the next morning. Coach was suspended a game by the AD and then "censured" by the MSHSL. Our officials association also looked into it and filed a formal complaint with the conference. Only problem in your situation is I believe you must report an ejection or inappropriate behavior to the MSHSL within one business day of the game.
Anyway, since I am now blackballed from that school I can't drive 80 miles to do a game there anymore... my feelings are really hurt. |

Then tell them that their remark is as intelligent as flunking a student on a test and when the student asks them which questions he missed, telling the student, "I don't really know, but it was a whole bunch of them." Ask them if they would say that to a student. If they have the stones to answer you and say "no", tell them, "well, your remarks to me are just as helpful and just as professional." Then stuff their banana back in their yap and puke on their shoes.

i think the person who made the comment about protecting the schedule and tourney dates is exactly right in this situation. having known the officials that worked that game the other night, they are regarded as 2 of the better h.s officials in the area. i know that by reporting this they might get a scar on there name, but i feel like they need to report this and in the long run they will earn respect for doing this. one other thing comes to mind is this. what about the next time they work a game for this coach. lets say its on the road or better yet, its a playoff game. what is going to keep the coach from going ape sh*t again. i hope these guys think this over and do something about it, otherwise i think the coach has gotten the best of them.

Why don't the officials get together and really address the problem which is that coaches should NEVER have input into official ratings and they should NEVER have a "scratch list."
Those who have a stake in winning or losing just can't be objective enough to evaluate fairly. Around here, the coaches get the same amount of input into who and where we assign refs as we get in regard to coaching decisions. None. There should NEVER be any negative consequences or pressure for an official filing a much-deserved negative report against a coach. Z |

Very un-professional on the coaches part. Where was the A.D.? Yes, this needs to be addressed to your state activities office, and a copy to the coach's school's administration.
Doesn't basketball bring out the true personalities of some of these people? |

FAX THE LETTER IMMEDIATELY
Mightyvol:
I, too, am an official in Minnesota. I had the same situation in a game last season. Of course it was the first game of the year so it got the season off to a flying start. Here is what happened: The game was hyped for a couple of weeks since it was a rematch of the two teams that met in the section finals the previous year. The game went to overtime. Visitors up one with about five seconds left. They are passing the ball around the perimiter when they skipped the ball inside to a wide open player on the low block. Player goes up for the easy uncontested shot when we have an opposing player push her in the back. I come in with an immediate intentional foul. They get two shots and the ball, game over. After the game, the head coach comes to us and shakes our hands and says "good game guys, you'll never work another f&^%ing game here again!" We were pretty shocked because we thought we called an excellent game. Usually after a girls game you question yourself, but this game we had a good feeling until that last slam by the home coach. Well, we filled out the report when we were eating after the game and I faxed it in to the state office. Got a call from the A.D. on monday morning asking about the incident. The bush league result of all of that was no apology from the school or the coach and no games the following year. I guess the coach was right! |
