Another backcourt question

Saw this last night.
Team A throw-in at their front court about 10 feet from the division line. A1 throws the ball in to A2 who starts out in front court, but jumps to catch the ball and while in the air, catches and then lands with one foot landing in front court and then the other foot lands in the back court.
What do we have?

OK. So, at this point, with the player holding the ball and straddling the division line, the player and ball have back court status. Right?

Right, he is in the backcourt.

And he/she established pivot (let's say right) foot is in the frontcourt on the landing.

BC violation occurs if he lifts his left foot and puts it back down in the backcourt while still holding the ball.

Yup.

Isn't frontcourt status established when the first foot lands in the front court? So when the second foot comes down in the back court it would be a violation.. What am I missing?

9-9-3 - last sentence: "The player may make a normal landing, and it makes no difference whether the first foot down is in the frontcourt or backcourt."

Hawkeye mentioned the NFHS rule.

In NCAA, I think that exact play may be a violation???

Nope - Same as NFHS. NCAA 4-3-8 has the same wording as NFHS 9-9-3.
