Pitt-UW: Refs Replay Gear

The Huskies almost had a win on Saturday night until officials ruled that Justin Dentmon’s shot was after the buzzer and Pitt escaped, 75-74.

The officials spent a long time watching a replay of the last seconds, and took such a close look the Seattle Times reported one of the officials borrowed a pair of glasses.

Nice. He didn’t need those for the game itself?

Dick Cartmel, the lead official, told reporters that “we all agreed the ball was in (Dentmon’s) hands” when the game officially ended.

That’s with glasses, or not?

This just proves we need 50" HDTVs court side. The shot was late on mine.

There was no doubt the ball was still in his hand. The fact that the official borrowed someone's reading glasses just shows that watching on the 13" monitor courtside is tough...
