The operative word is comedian.

There maybe some middle ground between Bob Hope wannabes and those of us who like to be professional about it.

Not that there aren't any refs who couldn't be professional comedians.

They just haven't shown up in any of the pregames I have been involved in.

Popping a joke here and there is a good thing.

Grabbing the mic from the pa announcer and monologing from center court.. Eh.. probly not very proffesional.

One of the things they say TO do at the clinic I attended is keep it light. DONT be soooo serious. It loosens up the coaches too. Dont be a smart azz, but dont be a stiff either.
