Kansas/USC Game--Someone must know who this guy is.

I am watching this game and I see an official that I have seen many times but I do not know his name. The crew is Tommy O'Neal, Rick Hartzell and ?????

I have seen the third official many times but I do not know who he is. His schedule must have really been elevated recently. I have seen him recently work a lot of good match-ups in the past few weeks working with some big time heavyweights in officiating. What is this guy’s name?

Peace

I think it's Kelly Self. Yah I have seen him alot as well. He worked the Kanasas State vs Oregon last week at KSU. He also worked the the tourney last year as well. I know the first two rounds, I think he worked in the regional field as well.

Tanner, if you're correct, then Rick is the odd one out. He needs to change his name to Tom O'Kneel.

John Higgins is one of the officials. He's been doing Big 12 games for a number of years...

Edit: Sorry, said Tim Higgins the first time. His name is John.

Kelly Self didn't do K-State/Oregon. I'm pretty sure it's John Higgins we're talking about.

Higgins did the KSU/UO game with Steves Welmer and Olson.

It was definitely John Higgins. BTW he is Tim Higgins son.

Kelly Self was one of the officials for the Hawaii @ NV game last year with the messy ending.

Hey, shut up. You're ruining the joke. I've been spreading the story that Tim Higgins and John Clougherty are good friends who worked the 1988 NCAA championship game together and each named their sons for each other. Now both of those sons are officiating D1 basketball.
I've got some people believing this.

The truth is that Tim Higgins has no sons, but three daughters. Tim Clougherty really is John Clougherty's son. The two fathers did work the 1988 Final.

John and Tim are unrelated.

John is from the Omaha area...and yes, he's a "Tier I" official-the guy is set to work about 100 games this season...and is actually in shape (unlike many of the others we see on TV each night)

His name is Tommy O'Neill. Those that know him in officiating around here call him Tommy. Not to say I am a close personal friend, but I attend his camp every year and he knows me well enough that we speak every time I see him. I should know how to spell his name but I have a friend that spells their name the way I did earlier and I tend to do spell it "O'Neal" out of habit.

Peace
