False Multiple Foul?

I'm watching the Idaho-Gonzaga game right now.

Idaho #24 fouls Gonzaga player who has the ball in Gonzaga's backcourt. This is #24's fifth foul. As #24 is headed to the bench, he directs some choice words at the official, who lights him up with a T.

Other end of the floor, and they're shooting FTs with the lane cleared. First one makes, second one misses. Then they line up the players along the lane for a 1 and 1. What gives? Isn't this a classic false multiple foul, administer in the order in which the fouls occurred?

8-7 says the ball should be put in play as if the last foul of the FMF would be the only one administered, but that would be POI, and POI was the foul itself.

I'm so confused.

The T was a Direct Technical. Direct Technical Fouls in Men's College Basketball is handled administered by a Point of Interruption. That means you shoot the T FTs and then you go back to the point as if this foul never occurred (10-3-1 Penalty (Men’s)).

Based on what you stated in this post, the officials got this right. College rules are different when it comes to technical foul administration. By definition it might be a false multiple, but by rule you administer the T first and then shoot the bonus.

Peace

They did it right for NCAA mens play. It's administer the direct T, then back to the POI.
For NFHS, the penalties would have been administered in the order of occurrence with the ball awarded at the division line following the final FT attempt.
