IAABO refresher test

Can someone please show me where to find the refresher test online? Before the firestorm hits let me be clear-I am looking for QUESTIONS-not the answers. (At least not yet).

Living overseas we always get the questions late--I have games starting soon and want to get up to date.

Not sure unless you belong to a board. For the record, Mary Struckoff HAS been asked for an interp on #74 & #76. Had our refresher test last night.

OC,
I can fax you a copy of the test. Send me your information.

Gerald

I also have the answers. I feel that at least 2 are incorrect.

Did they deal with backcourt issues?

Check out the thread started by Zoochy a few days ago. My interpreter who is on the rules committee believes that corrections are in order but is deferring to Mary. I believe one of them does refer to backcourt. My exam is at home.

Oh My Gosh!

Here are the 2 problem questions.

I have 2007 IAABO Refresher Exam.
Question 74: During an Alternating throw-in, A-1's throw-in is intentionally kicked. Official awards the ball back to Team A and rules this is still alternating possession throw-in. Is the official correct?
The answer sheet says YES. Rule 4-42-5

Question 76: A-1, who has the ball in the frontcourt passes the ball toward A-2. B-2 bats the ball to the floor in A's frontcourt so it bounces toward the backcourt. A-1 runs into A's backcourt and catches the ball before it strikes the floor. The official rules this is a backcourt violation. Is the official correct?
The answer sheet says NO. Rule 9-9-1

My head is spinning

Oh My Gosh!

This answer is totally wrong. It is not because I said so, it is because the head of interpreters for IAABO said so.

The "wrong" interpretation was issued by IAABO this summer in its Sportorials newsletter. I contacted Peter Webb, who is IAABO's "coordinator of interpreters" who acknowledged it was wrong. I don't know how it did not get changed before being put on the refresesher exam.

This is Peter's direct quote on this play:
The violation for "kicking" causes the very next/subsequent throw-in to be because of the kicking violation, it is a new throw-in situation. Team A would not lose the APTI. The arrow would not change as the APTI throw-in has not ended. The next/subsequent jump ball/held ball ruling would be a APTI for Team A.

The situation can be viewed like a APTI has been awarded to Team A and prior to the throw in ending, a player on Team A or Team B commits a foul. The APTI is placed "on hold" and the penalty for the foul is applied. The next/subsequent jump ball/held ball ruling will be a APTI for Team A.

The reason for the rule change was that it appears to be consistent with the "foul situation" under the same circumstances.

You are correct. There is a disagreement from the test author on both of these, but clearly #74 is supposed to demonstrate the reason for the rule change. I suspect the test answers will be overruled and put out on the website in the near future.
