I ask the coaches, "Do you have any player with any issue that we need to be aware of, perhaps a handicap?"

Invariably, one or both will answer either "Poor coaching," or "Lack of talent."

The FED did issue something sometime somewhere about not telling a player to remove jewelry but to just tell them that they couldn't play until they did so. Of course they also included this statement in casebook play 3.5SitB--"The official should inform the team member to remove the jewelry immediately."

The do have the option of refusing. If they do refuse, they just have to leave the court.

my pregame talk:

you all have the right to remain silent,
anything anyone says may be used against them on this court;
you have the right to consult with a rule book on your own goshdarn time;
there will be no need for any attorney to be present during questioning, since my partner and I are always right, and even if we are wrong and blow a call--well, we're still right.
We're here to enforce the rules, not teach them or dive into lengthy arguements about them. There will be no questions of our judgement, we got it on clearance 2 for 1 at the dollar store just before we got here.
And for Pete's sake if I see the slightest karat of bling on anyone at this level of the game, I think I might just SNAP!

Ya gotta develop a rapport.....
