Official SPRINTS into the lane - The Official Forum

I'm a first year official, and noticed last night while watching the Duke / Maryland game that in a multiple foul shot situation, the lead official would SPRINT into the lane as if shot out of a cannon, after the first shot, to retrieve the ball. What's up with that? Was the official just showing some hussle?
