Yes, it's just good hustle. Where I officiate, we're taught that if the FT goes in the basket, you should catch it before it hits the ground. And since the Lead official is not supposed to stand inbounds during the FT, that means you have to hustle to get into the lane.
I don't think I look like I get shot out of a cannon, but I do catch a made free throw about 95% of the time (when there's another one to follow
), I'd guess.
I think it shows that the official is into the game and not just walking through the motions.
