The key thing to remember is that every player, offensive and defensive have the legal right to their spot on the floor. I agree with you 100%. The player responsible for the contact should get the foul. It appears that a disproportionate number of calls have been made in favor of the defensive player even when the defensive player has NOT established position, imo.
