And under the heading of more important (and good) news......
A-Rod immediately opts out of $91 mil over the next 3 years. His agent, showing all of the class that he and A-Rod are noted for, notifies the Yankees by fax. Hey, why waste time on a personal phone call? There's a reason that he's never won anything. I can only hope that the Yankees wish him good luck and fuggedaboutit, like they said they would. Good luck and good riddance. Btw, if anybody thinks that Boras hasn't already gotten an offer of more money from someone like the Mets or Dodgers, they must also still believe in the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny. Personally, I hope that the Red Sox sign him. |

In a move to match the lack of class which the Yankees have displayed lately (see the lowball contract offered to Torre), AR declares that he is opting out on the very day that Red Sox win it all. (BTW JR why do think that the front office of the Yankees deserves classy treatment?)
He and his agent can't even let the focus be on the team that won the WS for a single day. Here's thinking that Cuban will purchase the Cubs and then purchase AR for Chicago. |

I also agree with you that telling the Yankees by fax is not a big deal. Not b/c the Yankees management "deserves respect" or whatever; but b/c everybody knew (or should have known) that he was going to opt out. There wasn't the least possible chance that he was going to stay with the current contract. Why? Two words -- Scott Boras. If anybody in the Yankee front office thought that Boras would let A-Rod stay in that contract, then they still believe in the Easter Bunny, too.
