I think they put Jose Canseco in to pitch. Apparently, his wrist is sore from writing his latest book, though, so he didn't do so well.

I guess writing all those one-syllable words with a crayon can tire you out.

Coulda been worse. They missed a convert.

Hard to imagine playing that game and then going out to play another one 30 minutes later. But just to add to the screwy stats, Texas set the record for most runs in a double header before the start of the second game!

They're in the National League?

Mr. DeNucci's not the only one with family in Youngstown.

The three gamer mid September is the one I'm more worried about.

Heck, I'm not worried at all. I'm hoping the Tigers finish @ .500 .
I may have to become a Yankees fan. When they played in New York, I was surprised that I knew their limeup, just like the old days.

Ford, Berra or Howard, Skowren, Richardson, Kubek, Boyer, Bauer, Mantle, Maris (Anyone feel free to edit these positions. My memory is almost as old as I.)
Note: NL is real baseball, though.

M&M,
I had an answering post disappear. So sorry !
Trying again here.

C-Mo, excellent LF or CF, has been a solid person and good teammate in Detroit. According to various readings from teammates, he tends to over-think his funks and does not, despite suggestions from teammates and coaches, just keep playing and using his natural athletic abilities to slide over the bumps.

Because the the Tigers were getting desperate, they called up Cameron Maybin, 20 yr.-old CF to take his place. A month ago, or so, the Tiger bigwigs said Maybin wasn't ready, ...but there he is in left field. He looks wide-eyed and excited and scared and anxious. But he's a ball player.

Coming up to the trading deadline, every offer to Detroit (in the last few weeks) requested Maybin and pitcher Jair Jurrjens, both double-A players. Well, Detroit not only kept them both, they brought both of them up to the club.

There ya go. Cubs got a solid player and a good man. His mom's name is Marilyn.

Good to know. It must've been one of those "opportunity" pickups, which sometimes never hurts. Now my Cubbies have a number of interchangeable pieces that could help as we go down the stretch.

Jeez, Mr. Grammar Guy takes a holiday and the place goes down the drain! "We usually always get popcorn at the movies." Uh-huh.

Sox are slated to play two today in Chicago, but the weather's still uncooperative.

You do too?! We almost always do too!

(Look, if it bothers you that much, you could always stuff a couple of twinkies in your eyes so you don't have to see it...)

That area got hit pretty hard last night with about 3 different storms that went through. My sister-in-law and her family were without power for a while; it sounds like there's still a number without even now.

If today got rained out as well, I wonder how they would make them up? I guess there's a chance these games might actually mean something at the end of the season.
