That makes sense, MTD, Sr.
Toledo's is a triple-A whole field, while the Grand Rapids place is just a Double-A ballpark in a park.

Question

That still doesn't explain how it got that goofy name. Were they building ballparks in groups of three and this was the fifth time they did it?

The Cincinnati-based company (Number two in the midwest! Seventy billion in assets!) was formed in 1906 from the merger of the Fifth National Bank and the Third National Bank.
Fifth Third Bank helped build some ballparks, ... or fields.
...I guess....

Good ol' simpler times when banks were numbered.

The Dayton (Ohio) Dragons (Reds) and the West Michigan (Tigers) both play in the Class A Midwest League and they both play in Fifth Third Field and Fifth Third Ball Park respectively, BUT the MudHens' (Tigers) Fifth Third Field, the real Fifth Third Field, was named Minor League Ball Park of the Year, the year it opened in 2002.

I haven't been to a lot of minor league parks, but I have been to the Orlando ballpark where the Braves minor league team plays, and where the Braves have their Spring Training. If that park doesn't win Minor League Ball Park of the Year every year, there must be some amazing parks out there.

The Orlando park is part of Disney's Wide World of Sports complex and is first-rate from a fan's standpoint. I've never taken a ballpark tour of it, but I can't imagine that the players' and coaches' areas are cramped or unpleasant in any way.

My dad lives just outside Orlando and we usually go to one Braves Spring Training game a year, although we didn't get to do it this year. I'm never there for Father's Day, but it's a nice substitute.

Wang looked pretty good.

Wakefield was good enough to win.

Cubbies will get the worse end of that fight, once the suspensions are announced, I think.

DJ, uh, wha' happened?!?!

And Dan, thanks for the call!

You needed the whole weekend for your one hair?

Dan now has a whole new crop up there. A veritable plethora, it may be said.

Now I'm also beginning to understand why Dan said you make his hair stand up on end, Chuckie. I wouldn't be showering with him at camp any more, if I were you.

He doesn't go to camp anymore. He won't even meet me for lunch when I'm at camp in his own backyard. I will NOT be ignored!!!

First of all, I didn't realize that anybody would actually lock the old thread, but that's fine.

Second of all, I think that last year's thread holds the record for most replies on the forum. This year's thread is well on its way to breaking that record. Right now, this thread has 34 pages (if you have it set to 15 posts/page). Last year, it took us until August to reach 34 pages; and that included a whole bunch of World Cup posts (which included, of course, Tony's soccer hotties).

I'm just so proud of you guys.
