Do you play with the rule that if the batter knocks over the pitcher's beer can he gets an extra base?

Unfortunately not. The park district doesn't allow beer at the fields.

However, I believe if any player knocks over the umpire's water bottle, it's an automatic ejection.

Better than what? Faster?

Try not to take this too hard, but a slow-pitch softball pitcher is really not what is usually regarded as being the epitome and apex of athletic achievement. It actually requires about the the same athletic skill as...say...having a dump.

Now, second base however.....with people standing on you, sliding into you, kicking you, etc..... that might be more fitting to your actual skill level(and experience).

No, he can get killed instead for doing that in most slowpitch games.

Unfortunately, it must take some skill level because no one else on our team has the ability to throw strikes without walking 5 people first.

I will agree it's not that hard, though. Maybe it says more about the talent level of the rest of our team...

(Even though we are well above .500 for the season. That's still better than the Yankees.)

Heck, no. Our leagues use "real" strike zones. I dispise the mat, both as a pitcher and umpire; it takes away some of the pitcher's advantage if they have to hit a "spot" on the ground rather than trying to get that 6' high pitch past the back shoulder of the batter.

Yea, you noticed that too? I also noticed they look different...

Nope, this is all guys. No wimmen allowed (except for the occasional wimmen umpire). Oh, and of course, the wives and girlfriends that show up in the stands.

That's unfortunate. The mat always spoke highly of you. However there was some mention of that night together in the dugout...just the two of you...in the dark....
