I corrected your terminology a tad because a held ball is what causes the AP arrow to be used, while a jump ball is what takes place at the start of the game and each extra period in the center restraining circle.
Subtleties reveal much. Hopefully this is straight in my mind and I will not automatically call a held ball every time the ball gets lodged. Regarding terminology, though, when the signal chart uses the verbage "Stop clock for jump/held ball", then it is not indicating the terms (jump/held) are equivalent, but confirming the same signal is used whether the held ball results in a re-jump (in which case it would be a jump ball) or a throw-in.
