Conversly, this reminds me of one of my favorite officiating stories.

ACC game in the late 80s or so, and Jim Valvano was not happy with the way a game was being called. As one of the officials is near the bench, Jimmy says "Hey (I can't recall his name right now)...can you T me up for what I'm thinking?"

Confused, the official says "No, of course not."

Jimmy shoots back: "Good. Cause I think you suck."

Official is laughing too hard to give him the T.

Hank Nichols was the official. I just read it in a book by John Feinstein.

Watched a tightly called large school boys game the other night, and these guys called the first quarter real tight. 11 fouls (6/5) by at the end of 8 minutes, and very little chirping from the coaches, only on the close ones.
2nd quarter was clean, same with rest of game until things were tight and fouling 'had to be done.' Those guys accomplished what I would guess is their approach and the rest of the game moved along real well. You hear, 'let is play,' and after the teams adjusted to the officiating, that's what they did. They played.

A March to Madness, right? That's a great book.
