In the past two years there was a transmittable skin infection going round during the football season, I think in the Southwest. Spread through the sweat left on the ball.
Try officiating on fields favored by geese all week. I got the wipes and GermX in the car and my bag. First thing I do is hit the locker room sink to wash up. Simple soap and water works. And then there's getting dirt off the baseball on a muddy day....  When you're married to a biologist, the 5-second rule doesn't apply.
