I did some basketball games tonite for a tournrment (young girls). Nice break from the softball.

It was during those games I realized how lucky I was to pick up the desire to be an offical in softball and basketball. Where else can you have a hobby that you enjoy, get lots of excercise, meet interesting people AND GET PAID FOR IT !!

I agree, football is my favorite of the 3 I work (softball, football, wrestling). However, it pays the least of the 3. So much fun, though.

football, flag or otherwise interfre my fall softball. Heck once softball ends I get at least two weeks off before basketball.

I think football would be fun. They are always looking for guys.

I have avoided football like a plague because the rules are too screwed up. You can block here, but not there. Contact is ok here, not there. You need a measuring tape to tell the difference. Holding is so inconsistently interpreted, it's impossible to know if it's called right. An pass interference, yuk!

After you do it long enough it becomes 2nd nature, just like softball. The rules are more complex, though. Just like softball rules are more complex than wrestling.

I am, and always have been a one sport official. Wouldn't have it any other way! Besides, around here, by the time tournaments end in the fall, I have about 8-10 weeks off before I am back at it again. One of the great things about living in Texas!
