Tip for hurt feet
My feet were killing me last year. Heels were bruised and started shooting pain across both feet. I was limping most games. I spent $375 on custom orthotics, which helped, but didn't fix the problem.
I later read an article in Referee mag about an NBA ref who has worked the most games. They asked him how he kept his knees and joints in working order over the years. He said he wears 5 pairs of socks and buys his shoes 1/2 size too big. I tried it at the beginning of this season. Wearing 4 to 5 pairs of socks only with the same size shoe. It is like a freakin miricle! Its like I'm running on pillows. My foot pain is gone while running and feet are almost healed up completely, while working 3 to 5 nights per week. Just a suggestion for those of you who have similar foot pain!

Many people unknowingly wear shoes that are too small anyway so I could see this part helping immediately. Wearing multiple pairs of socks could probably help too. When you do this, do you still wear the orthodics?

The answer is yes and no... When I wear my spot bilt or adidas shoes, I do wear the orthotics. When I wear my rebok 'the refs', I do not, because it pushes too much on my arches.

![]() Geez...what a deal. The problems with my feet have dropped off dramatically with the weight loss. Now they only bother me when I do 7 or 8 games in a day...but then on those days my whole body hurts ![]()

my podiatrist, who made the orthotics, mentioned it might be plantars, but surprised me he didn't say anything about it really. Just said it was probably more of a occupational hazzard, to which I couldn't disagree. I was just worried becasue I'm pretty young (32) and was having severe foot pain, but I'm just glad the extra socks are working.
