Just a nit-picky terminology comment here. The title of this thread is misleading. You are not asking about a rotation. A rotation is a LIVE BALL change in the position of the officials, triggered by movement of the ball. A switch is a DEAD BALL change in the position of the officials, triggered (usually) by a foul call.

We're actually talking about the proper switch in this thread, not "proper rotation". Not a big deal, but for guys who are new to the 3-person system, I didn't want them to get confused.

What's confusing about what I wrote?

Live ball change of position = rotation.
Dead ball change of position = switch.

Sorry if the previous post was not clear.

Switch vs rotation

I think it's important to understand the proper terminology and to use the proper terms when discussing situations. Switch vs rotation is not difficult to understand. I'm with Scrapper on this one
