And One, Double T

Here was the situation that was given to me tonight: A1 is fouled in the act, the shot is good. One free throw is coming...

Before the free throw, a double technical is called on A4 and B4. Using POI do you:

(a) Clear the lane and let A1 shoot the free throw. If the shot is made Team B gets the ball OOB, if it's missed you go AP.

or

(b) A1 shoots the free throw, with the lane filled. A1 makes, Team B's ball OBB. A1 misses, live ball and play on.

I said (b), they claimed it was (a).

If the double-technical had not occurred, what would have been done? That is the POI and the same is still done following the double-technical.
The answer is most clearly b.

b is the correct answer--all double fouls go back to POI so in this case you shoot as though nothing happened

You are wise beyond your years.

You can't be a Cardinals fan.

Rule 4-36-2(b).

Thanks JR. In fact, this was the rules reference I cited.
