I think I booted this one

Boys game last night. Two totally unequal teams. Two players banging away on each other in the low post. I had enough & called double foul as green passed the ball inside. After reporting the foul I resumed with the AP. Should have been a POI with green ball instead, shouldn't it? Had it been a shot, it would have been AP, right?

It's the POI during a shot too. The POI is an AP on a shot.

What if the "shot" goes in?

It's still the POI. Count the basket. The POI now is an end line throw-in by the team scored on. Case book play 4.19.8SitC.

Why would it have been a POI on the shot if there is no longer team possession? Wouldn't that dicatate an AP?

Because ALL double fouls now go to the POI. sometimes the POI is an AP throw-in, but the rule is now that ALL double fouls go to the POI. You just have to know how to find the POI.

You are wise beyond my years.

NFHS rule 4-36. R4-36-2(b) covers a shot that goes in. R4-36-2(c) covers a shot that is missed.

Wow - That would be something to see - a Double Foul during a shot and the ball goes in? Interesting.

I usually reserve DF's for aggressive positioning in the lane but that's not always the case as your possibility points out.

Interesting.

Which is altogether possible during the flight of the ball, right?
