Ref Punches Coach

I was, as trail, right in front of the visiting coach in the first half. There was a trap at the division line, just a bit a head of me. Just as the player was releasing the ball on a pass, the coach yelled timeout. I wait to see where the ball ends up. Once caught by a teammate, I blow the whistle and raise my hand to grant the timeout. Little did I know that the coach had stepped a little closer in the second or so that passed. I caught him with a glancing blow on the left jaw!! Of course, I immediately apologized as he rubbed his jaw.

After a moment, he was fine. While there might be some coaches around that some officials might like to punch, this guy is not one of them...he's was great sport and a gentleman. I'm sure going to use it in the future when I see him again.

I'm glad everyone was fine, including your hand.
Now have you seen everthing?

What kind of signal did you use to "catch him"?

Don't worry Cam, I just checked my book and can't find any reference to support the notion that striking a coach is wrong.

Glad it wasn't a team control foul.
