I was always told that any foul, or tech counted twords disqualification. A1 has 3 personals. get four foul, then a tech that's five, right? If so please quote rule in book,m thanks!

4-14-1: A disqualified player is one who is barred from further participation in the game because of having committed his/her fifth foul (personal and technical), two technical fouls or a flagrant foul.

There's a nice little chart in the rule book that tells you what fouls count for what, and technical fouls charged to a player count towards the limit of 5 personal fouls as well as the limit of 2 technical fouls.

For NFHS that's correct. However, the NCAA and the NBA are different.

The DQ happens at FIVE FOULS which can be a combination of personal and technical fouls. Saying that there is a limit of five personal fouls is not accurate.

It is according to the foul chart on page 73.

Remember, in NF, it's a little different for coaches. They can get indirect technicals which count differently. Check the chart in the book.

Unfortunately, the NFHS chose poorly when selecting words for that chart.

Go with the actual rule, 4-14-1.
